Biker Stud! The bright lime green jersey made him really easy to spot! Here's a couple photos from Tim's STP ride. The 1st pic is Day 2, the 2nd pic is the end of Day 1. I would have put them in order, but I was having technical difficulties. I had a few more pictures to post, and so I hope to have those up this week!

country music fan surprise

Kenny Chesney-what a guy! Although he is not on the top of my list of favorite male country singers (my second favorite Tim being my #1 with Keith Urban a close 2nd), his actions on the CMA Festival last night really moved me! He invtied two college girls from Nashville to watch him perform live in NY on Good Morning America. And if that wasn't enough, afterwards he surprised them with an invite to fly to the CMA Festival with him in his private jet!!!! How cool would that be?! Not only that, but at the concert, the girls were backstage during his performance. Towards the end, Kenny invited them out on stage to sing Summertime with him! They were all singing with their arms wrapped around each other. If only Tim McGraw would invite me on his private jet....

Some like it hot...

...but not me! Growing up in the midwest, you would think that I was used to hot summers. However, now that I live in a city where airconditing isn't considered a necessity, it's a different story.

Fun things to do in Seattle when the weather is over 90 degrees =

• swim in Lake Washington
• drink blended margariatas
• get sprayed by a water hose
• go to the movies
• eat ice cream

Not so fun things to do in Seattle when the weather is over 90 degrees =

• live in an un-airconditioned 3 story townhouse
• sleep on the top floor of an un-airconditioned 3 story townhouse
• do anything in an un-airconditioned 3 story townhouse

The Bus Stop Chronicles, vol. 1 pt. 1

I ride the bus to work. The price of parking in downtown Seattle is ridiculous, so I opt for the bus. One of my co-worker's husband's is a bus driver and he says that my bus route is the 2nd to least favorite among bus drivers because of all the drama and weirdos that hop aboard. This doesn't make me feel too great, but as long as I ride during the normal weekday rush hour times with all the other "8 to 5ers", I'm okay. I have seen my fair share of drama at the bus stops and on the bus. Fist fights, loud arguments, people being arrestted, bus accidents, bus tires popping, and even witnessed a girl getting hit by a car to name a few. This morning on the same block as my stop, a lady with too much makeup and too short a skirt was pulled over by the police. (there is a sign on my bus stop corner that says something about prostitution being a neighborhood watch issue. )

Finish Line

Tim made it to Portland! He biked 204 miles in 2 days! Overall the trip took him 17 hours, which included a few water stops and a lunch stop on both days! He did extremely well despite not really training for this event! I am so proud of him! He is amazing! Tim's mom and I drove along the bike route and stopped at a few places to watch the bikers and cheer Tim on! Lucky for us he was wearing the Team Parkinson's jersey, which was bright lime green and super easy to spot! (I did take pictures this weekend, and if they turn out I will post a few!)

Portland or Bust

This is my amazing husband getting ready to start his 200+ mile bike ride from Seattle to Portland! He is riding with Team Parkinson's. Tim is riding in memory of his dad, who passed away in February. His dad had Parkinson's disease for 30+ years. Tim's webpage is http://www.nwpf.org/participant.asp?id=34. Tim's mom and I will be meeting him at the halfway point tonight. Tomorrow we will be cheering him on at the finish line! Portland, here we come!

Gracie

Grace = an undeserved gift

Last summer my husband and I were gifted a 22 ft. sailboat named Gracie. On Memorial Day we motored it 10 hours from Lake Bay, WA to Seattle. Other than getting yelled at by the Coast Guard for being within 500 ft. of a Navy cruiser, the trip was smooth sailing. We had our first official boat party on the 4th of July! We ended up with more people than planned, so we were grateful that our anchor neighbor was a 57 ft. yacht. The yacht captain invited us to tie up next to him and jump aboard his ship! (note...Tim doesn't normally wear cheesy 4th of July headbands! It was forced on for the photo!)

About time
