Jailbirds

Nance, I need to start carrying my camera with me everywhere! If I had had it with me yesterday, today I would have posted the following picture....

Last night U.S. Sen. Barack Obama was in town. He spoke at Benroya Hall, which is right across from my evening bus stop. While I was waiting to catch my bus yesterday, across the street, there were three people dressed in black & white striped jailbird outfits and they were chained together with a heavy black iron ball & chain. Each person sported a huge head of our leaders. One was Condolezza Rice, another was Dick Cheney, and the third...George W. It was pretty entertaining. Maybe you had to be there.

Sleepless in Seattle

I have been having trouble sleeping through the night. For this entire week I have been waking up at 4:00a.m., and have not been able to fall back asleep. At work I have been so tired! I'm not sure what's going with me. Life is good right now so I don't know what my problem is. Maybe I should try counting sheep or drinking a glass of warm milk before my head hits the pillow. If anyone has any sleeping recommendations, I am open to suggestions.

Knitting

This morning on the bus I saw a guy knitting a maroon colored scarf. I don't know why this struck me as weird. It shouldn't, especially because when I was in 10th grade a guy from my church taught me how to crochet.

Yo Quiero Taco Bell

Last night during the World Series game, Tim and I saw the sign that if anyone hit a homerun, America would get a free taco from Taco Bell. Since there is a Taco Bell a block & a half from our house, we opted to wait to eat dinner until someone hit a home run! Unfortunatley no homers were hit, so Tim and I had to settle for leftovers. This is probably for the best. I've never been to the Taco Bell near our house, but the one day that my dad and my uncle went there to pick up lunch for me, a prostitute asked them for a quarter. This incident occured at Noon. Who knows what would be going on there in the evening? Probably best not to find out!

This is me and Jenny at our 10 year reunion. Jenny and I met in jr. high band. We both played flute. If you wonder what I looked liked in high school, just imagine me with chin length hair. My face hasn't changed a bit.

Metronatural

"Say WA" was the former ad campaign for Washington State Tourism. The campaign received lousy ratings, so it was revamped. The new slogan for the state of WA = "MetroNatural" It's supposed to represent an urban yet environmnetally friendly city.

Come visit the Metronatural city! I just don't see myself saying "Hi, I live in the metronatural city!" Hmmm....I don't know about this one!

World Series bound

To the St. Louis Cardinals -

Although I am a little bummed that Mets didn't beat you last night, I am happy to report that your win over the Mets makes cheering for the Tigers at the World Series a whole lot easier! Thanks.

Please be consistent

On Sunday, Tim and I arrived at the MSP airport around 3:30p.m. Since we didn't bring too much with us, we decided to carry on our luggage. At the security checkpoint we took off our coats and shoes and put all our belongings on the conveyor belt. In compliance with the new security rules, I had all my liquids/gels/makeup in a plastic bag, or so I thought. After I walked through the security sensor, the guard told me that my bag needed to be searched. In it he found my perfume container, which I forgot to put in a plastic bag. He examined it and wiped it down with their secret round white pads. Afterwards he said that the liquid was exactly 3oz. and that I could carry it on. So I did.

At the gate we found out our flight was overbooked and so Tim and I were bumped to a later flight. We were even given $5 meal vouchers to use anywhere in the airport. We had enough time to drive back to my parents' house for dinner and a few rounds of 42. At 8:00p.m. we were back at the airport going through secruity. This time I had my perfume container in a plastic bag. Again my bag was searched and the guard told me that my perfume container was too big and it wouldn't be allowed in checked luggage. My options were to check my luggage or lose my perfume. We explained that I had been allowed to take it through earlier, but the guards still wouldn't budge. I ended up checking my luggage, which took an extra 40 minutes (even though I was escorted by a security guard...this is a story for another time). I just wish that TSA would be consitent in what they let through and what they don't!

Tim and I didn't get a chance to spend our $5 meal vouchers in the airport, however, the flight attendant was nice enough to let us use them on the plane. It never tasted so good!

10 Years Later

I celebrated my 10 year high school reunion last Saturday at Sweeny's. I have only stayed in touch with a few high school friends, but I was excited to find out what others had been up to! Walking up to the banquet room, I started to feel nervous about being there. It ended up being a fun yet awkward evening.

One of the most bizarre incidents of the evening was right after Tim had told a story about how one of the guys at his high school reunion became a pimp, one of my classmates that I was in Girl Scouts with, came up to us and said that she ran an adult entertainment service. It is surprising what happens to some people!

Conversation

Colin Powell Rule #1 -

It ain't as bad as you think. It will look better in the morning.

The conversation was had.

Although I practiced, it came out nothering like I had written down.

What felt like an eternity lasted only 60 seconds.

The disappointed look was given.

"This CANNOT happen again....ever" was spoken.

The issue was resolved; I still have a job, and the President of the Company still greets me with a smile.

How did I miss this?

The cast of Grey's Anatomy appeared in downtown Seattle yesterday just a few blocks from where I work. How did I not know about this until I saw it on today's morning news? I could have had a photo opt with Dr. Shepherd! Today the cast is filming is a secret location for a November episode, but I'll be keeping my eye out for any chance sightings!

Scent

Sitting on the floor in our bedroom is a bag filled with clothes that belonged to Tim's dad. We brought them home a few weeks ago with the intention that Tim would wear them since they are a perfect fit. Before wearing them, we need to wash them. However, the scent of Tim's dad is still fragrent in them and we're not ready to let that go. So for now, the clothes will stay in the bag.

Mafia

I learned how to play Mafia on Saturday night. This game proves the following facts about me:
1. I have a tough time defending myself when people think I'm guilty even though I am truly innocent.
2. I cannot tell a lie without getting caught.

This was my first time playing, and luckily I wasn't part of the Mafia. I was hoping to be the Archangel, which would have been such a natural role for me. In the end, I was just a "surf" (citizen).
